I love wool applique. I use felted wool, not the felt. But you can use either one. It's so easy - trace the pattern pieces into freezer paper, iron the pieces onto the wool, cut out on the line. Then I use a primitive stitch (some use a blanket stitch) to attach the piece to the background. It's so relaxing and it's nice to take along to work on just about anywhere. Have fun with it!
