A few years back our guild made table runners from fabric tubes. We used these to turn the fabric inside out. Then you wove the fabric tubes together and added borders. It would have been an onerous task without one. I can't remember the name of the pattern. I do remember it used an incredible amount of fabric for a table runner. But the tube turners really worked.
