Smile Quilting forever, New Here. Equal Opportunity Fiber Offender from Columbus, OH

Hi,

I'm Sharon in Columbus. I've been quilting a long time, but in between spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, well,...you get it. On Saturday I won a hunk of all over rather cartoony pink flamingos, and it said "QUILT ME!" By Sunday afternoon it was washed and sandwiched with some Cream Rose batting and the remains of an (also washed) organic cotton sheet I got at Goodwill for $3.99. The thing I hate most about quilting is MARKING the wretched things, so it's purely FUN to just quilt the printed pattern. By Sunday afternoon the first pink flamingo had emerged in all her quilted glory from the flat landscape of printed cloth, and I was just going to do a bit more because I had an awfully long bit of thread in the needle, and oops, that's all used up... thread again, and Oh Lord! Look at the time!

I didn't measure anything, because I'm just doing it as a whole cloth "throw" size, but the hunk is more or less square, so I'm pretty sure it's 44" or thereabouts. Goody. Now I've got something to do on the plane for the next several business trips.

Some of my friends observed that I didn't seem like the pink flamingo type. No pink flamingos on our lawn. (We had a concrete gargoyle in our living room for years..) It's not about the pink flamingos. It's the silliness. I get comments on my rainbow shoelaces all the time. The only reason I got the rainbow laces was because Target was out of the ones with the dinosaurs on them. I believe strongly that if you cannot open minds, you should at least endeavor to pull legs.
