I am not a fan of yellow anything, but it gives your quilt a sweetness that would be missing with a white background. Very pretty.
I did one years ago, (before I knew any rules or quilt police), that had a small calico floral background and solid color co-ordinates in the 'chain'. It is still one of my favorites.
