Yes all the time. In fact I did it extensively in this quilt:

All the background is regular quilting cotton and every other "tooth" in the saw tooth. The outer border and all the cats are batiks.

I am always surprised at how often this question is posted to the forum. I am every curious as to why this idea even came about that you shouldn't or couldn't mix regular quilting cottons with batiks. Are quilt shops saying this? Is there some blogger out there in the web posting this? Where did the idea come from that it is somehow taboo or wrong to use them together? Does anyone have any idea??
