I have heard the same at some quilt shops - OMG you mix? I'm like, um, yes, it's still cotton! I've heard it's not "traditional" to mix batiks and cottons!

I mix them up all the time! I did it for my bali star wedding quilt! Here's what it looks like (un-quilted as of yet)
