I'm sold on my Oliso iron and would replace it, should anything ever happen.

The auto-lift feature can be disabled if you choose.

However, like Jennifer23, it has been a saving grace re physical issues.
It has definitely help alleviate shoulder problems I was having.

DolphynGyrl ... As for concerns re fires, when using other irons.
Yes, I am sure it could happen, as you develop a different habit in using the Oliso.
Just the same as the first while you have it, you want to stand it on end.

However, if you leave it down, in error ... I am sure you would "smell" the burn, long before flames.

As with any iron, you really should turn it off, when you leave the room.
Not doing so, probably causes a lot more fires than any Oliso-iron-user has ever caused from mis-use of a conventional!!
