Even though I have tried to bury my threads, there are some laying about. Can I add fray check to hold these strays in place or will it make it too stiff and eventually wash out?

Should I use 2 layers of muslin or a thin batting on the back and embroider through both layers to hide the strays or is 2 layers too hard to sew through?

Any other ideas or recommendations you folks know?
