So does this mean you drew the suns on paper and then pinned them to the quilt and quilted the design through paper and all? I'd like to try that and wondered how it worked for you. If this isn't how you did it can you elaborate?
Yes--that's what I did. I had done it once before, but sandpat encouraged me to try it again. Regular printing papers didn't work as well for me, but she suggested tracing paper, which was okay. I bought some even thinner paper to use next time. I traced every sun on the last three baby quilts, but another way I read about is to trace one, then layer about 15 of the papers under an unthreaded needle and let the needle make the design on the rest. I admit I hate tearing the paper off--it loosens stitches no matter how careful I am. But--maybe they'll fix when it's washed.

Oh--be sure to trace with a perm marker--NOT pencil. The lead showed up on my first sun on one of the other quilts and I had to tear out the stitches. I actually noticed a bit of blue marker on a few threads...so I started sewing just outside the tracing line.
