My first quilt was from a picture of a placement and made with decorator fabrics left over from my remodeling binge (slip covers, curtains and pillows). Had no clue about 1/4 inch seams, batting or binding or the wonderful rotary cutter. Cut lots of strips by hand. It is a full-sized quilt. Amazingly that quilt has held up pretty well, with only a few places where the binding is fraying. Moved on to a feathered star quilt that used Y seams. But I now had a cutting mat, rotary cutter and a book to guide me. Missed a few points but considering it was only my second quilt, am quite pleased with it. It hangs in my living room as we speak.
