I've been letting my gray grow out. I've been coloring at home for over 35 years! (started graying at 18!) I got some stuff at Sally's called "Color Fix", to remove as much of the old color as possible. It's a little hard to use all by yourself. It did lighten my dark hair and helped it blend in with the gray on top. I need to do it again to get some more color out. It doesn't remove it all at one time.
I am getting impatient with the skunk look... cant wait to just be all gray and FREE! Gray is very trendy... I've heard that even some young ladies are coloring their hair gray now.
