There shouldn't be any problem, if they are 100% cotton. I would cut it to just meet the stitch line because turning it inside out with the 'batting' in the seams could be difficult. I usually cut my batting smaller because it will be caught in the topstitching and quilting, but the lady who taught me how to make them (she is 80 yrs old!)puts it all the way to the edge, turns and topstitches thru everything! I am more than impressed by her skills.
