I was like you. Mixing washed and unwashed. This boom calls for prewashed. I took the opportunity to wash all of my fabric this was a big job. You can just wash what you're going to use in the boom.
I try to use what I had in my stash and only buy if I didn't have what was needed. For me, it would be too expensive otherwise.
