A picture would help. My parents asked me to enlarge a quilt I made for their queen-sized bed--I made it to be used as a quilt, but they loved it and wanted it as a bedspread instead. The quilt had wide (3") borders, so, rather than take the time to remove the binding, I simply cut it off; made additional blocks to enlarge the quilt; quilted the additions (bottom and both sides); and attached them using the quilt-as-you-go method. New binding all around, and no one would know that it had been changed.
