I made a butterfly quilt on gray fabric and thought it was blah and ugly, so I added fake flowers about it and it looks so much better. My 6 yr old DGD, the recipient of this quilt, wants some yo yos for flower centers now that she has seen it. I told her to snap to it, making yo yos with the template and I will sew them on. that's what I do on an ugly quilt, just keep adding till I like it. Yours definitely needs a bright binding and has plenty of room for applique and/or additional designs. So "snap to it" (LOL) and you will soon love it. Personally, I think it is a great start.
