I wash my fabric with Retayne per the instructions on the bottle. (I really only pre-wash fabric for Booms so my bottle has lasted forever.) I dry as I would plan to dry my finished quilt, press the fabric and then cut. For the fabric I make members' blocks with, I'll cut more then I think I'll actually need, an inch or two larger, wash by hand, press and use that. Prewashing is not my preference but it's part of the rules for swapping per the QB so we abide by it.

A newbie question for all of you - I have never pre-washed fabrics for my quilts. Can you give me some tips on how to best do this? My fabric is set to arrive tomorrow and I know I will be anxious to get started preparing it!
