I have felted wool and made garments for myself. It makes up really well and if you choose, you don't have to finish the edges because once the wool is felted, it won't ravel.

I'll pass on one hint I learned when felting wool. Do it on a nice day so you can open the doors and windows or go to the laundromat. Wet wool stinks!! If you are washing and drying yardage, it really stinks. It can take a while to get rid of the odor.
