we did about 3 days in Seattle 4 yrs ago--loved it! Also no car, but we stayed in hotel downtown and Pikes Place easy walk and their transit system was easy to manuever too. We did go to the Space needle for dinner one night--if you are going to eat there it includes your trip up, which is worth it--but beware--their menu is pricey! But seeing the harbor as dusk was coming on and then at night was just gorgeous. Didn't have time to go to any of the islands (I was in a conference so my DH explored a couple days by himself) but would do that next time!
