I like the fabric between the border to tone down the print. Check out modern art paintings...lots of color and movement just like your quilt. Remember the quilt is being given to be used and enjoyed and snuggled under.
If you like the size, just add binding for a cool modern look. I know your quilt will be appreciated with whatever you decide.
