I had a sewing machine table, no leaves, just a hole in it to put a machine in. My Husband years ago glued an Oak sheet on it. A few months ago I toyed with the idea of giving it to goodwill. Just to get rid of it, a light bulb went off. I had him glue a 1/2 or 3/4" sheet of plywood on top of the oak, big enough for my largest cutting mat to fit with an inch of space around it. We didn't finish the top and the mat doesn't slide around. I put bed risers under the legs. I am 5'-7" and it is the perfect size for me. The cutting table I bought years ago at joanns went to goodwill, it wasn't sturdy enough. If need be I can use my dining table. So many ways to make a cutting table.
