The size of hoop needs to correspond with the sewing area available of your machine. The VE2200 has a sewing area of 180x300mm ( 7x11" i think) so you couldn't use a larger hoop.
Remember, unless you are qayg in strips, you will still have bulk under the throat of the machine when you tackle the middle of the quilt, so will need to support that part to keep it off the hoop.
