A vintage Bernina would be a good choice. For really perfect straight stitches on fine fabrics, get the straight stitch plate which has only a small hole rather than the oval one that also accommodates zig zag stitches. You might also be very happy with a vintage Singer, maybe a 201. It was known as the Dressmaker and it handles a wide variety of fabrics. Straight stitch only.
