A lot of the fabric in that time frame would have been linen, but I would think linen would be too open weave to use for this. I would consider a nice plain and patterned fabric, even some border fabric for the sleeve ends and the skirt ends to match. Also, handkerchief fabric would be nice if it looks like the fine Irish linen, like Mom's or Grandma's old handkerchiefs that I have. Some of that would make nice sleeves. Even the embroidery edges on the handkerchiefs could be used for the lacy look. Your drawings are great and I hope to see more. Thank you so much for allowing us to see what you are working on.
