I prewash most of my fabric. I unfold to 4 thickness's and pin with large safety pins at the corners and wash. Keeps the fabric from getting all twisted together. I lay it out and trim off the ravelings and hang it on the line to dry. It is less wrinkled and twisted than the dryer.
