I believe this machine was made by National Sewing Company. They made for so many companies. That is pretty much all I can find on this machine. I do not see a serial number anywhere. There are missing parts, the tension knob on the front, and the plate over the bobbin. Thanks for trying!
I think you are correct that it is a badged National machine.
Have you looked on the front lower lip of the machine. Some serial numbers are just stamped into the metal and don't have a "badge plate." I know I have had trouble finding serial numbers even though I know where it is supposed to be. I think some have the SN in the front under the slide plate. Try looking sideways or with a flashlight in different positions.
