I had the same thing happen to my 180 a couple of years ago - can see a faint bit of backlight on the screen when I turn it on, but nothing works. Checking with a local Bernina dealer, I was quoted $1000 minimum for the board and they would have to take my machine's board and send it out to have it repaired as Bernina doesn't stock new boards. I found this wasn't an uncommon issue on the 180. Perhaps the 160 is less to repair, but for $1000 and no guarantee it would last, I opted to buy a new machine (and a different brand).
