It's because we live in an instant world now. When I was little, each meal was prepared unless it was a bowl of cereal with milk over it, toast that only took a few minutes, maybe a fried or poached egg or bologna sandwich. Not many cold cuts at the time. You really couldn't by a prepared meal, frozen for your convenience or boxed. Even mac and cheese was 'made', usually baked in the oven with the rest of the meal. Young people know nothing about this and those who do, probably have forgotten the time it took to 'cook.' Yes, much easier now, but miss some of those meals.
