Started the hand binding today
One of the things that held me up was I realized I had to hand assemble the material to make the continuous bias binding for my J Stickle quilt, by hand. I have just enough materiel, two 26 inch square pieces that will give me almost 500 inches, more than enough. Each scallop is a little less than 6 inches in linear stitch line distance, so with 13 scallops on each side, It was pretty straight forward math.
I did look a a number of tutorials people suggested. Thanks, they were useful.
Though a number suggested pressing the binding was unnecessary, I came a cross a method saying, if it was heavily starched and pressed wet it would help prevent the slippage that can occur. This has happened to me even with machine binding, so I went with that advice.
I remarked the quilt edge with the cutting line and marked the binding with a 1/4 inch line to follow.
Now I just need to sit ....and stitch!
