My late mother used to buy 100% cotton sheets on sale (coordinated, of course) and then do whole-cloth quilts from them. Many of them are still in use, and on some the hand-quilting is coming undone; therefore I am practicing the art of hand-quilting those parts. It's taking me a bit of time, but I'm liking it, and not having too hard a time getting the needle through the fabric...must be a lower thread count.
