For the oiliness issue, I think soaking in Dawn and water before washing would help. Dawn is used to remove oil from bird feathers, so I think it would also work on fabric. You have to be careful about using Dawn in the wash, especially if you have a front loader, as it can create too many suds. It's a lot like Synthrapol. If you want to try doing laundry with Dawn, this website has reasonable instructions (be aware that these instructions are probably for an old top loader; for new top loaders and especially for front loaders, the amounts may be way too much):
