One of the women is a nurse and said many of the deaths of infants in developing countries are from hypothermia, losing their normal body heat, so the little fleece caps are an integral part of the pack that also includes blanket size about 36" or 40" square, burp cloths, gently used gowns and sleepers, a few diapers, etc. I am part of a group that sews for missions in the French Congo, and discouraged our members from using fleece or flannel for blankets and gowns. My concern was that the babies would be too hot. On Nancy's show I learned what is really needed. It is from Nancy Zieman that most of us learned about making the "Little Dresses for Africa", often referred to as the "Pillowcase Dresses".
