I took a class once that showcased the binding foot, and it worked great. But we were making little handbags, and the binding foot was used to sew the bound edge of the bag along with the shoulder strap. The straps were "finished" at the bottom of the bag with a hand-tied knot. I thought the binding foot was neat until I realized that I had no idea how, instead of tying off the binding, you would sew around a corner, like you would on a quilt. I have yet to figure out how you would do that with a binding foot. Hopefully someone will come along and illustrate!
