I think many of them were made of velvets, silks, "fancy" fabrics -

I don't think they were washed before cutting "way back when" -

My question is: Were these made to be "used" or "just to look at" in the parlor?

They don't look washable - and I am wondering how well the fabrics would survive dry cleaning?

How would one clean one of these items?
