I'm no expert by any means but did she change thread weights?? Unless she's changed thread weights I don't know of a reason this would happen 'out of the blue'?? But I'm sure there will be other, more knowledgeable, folks along shortly to answer your question. But yes, make; model of machine will certainly help with a proper answer.
