Take that DH with you, you might just find a great partner in another one of life's enjoyable adventures. If he is new at this, it's just like taking a kid fishing. Make the trip short, make it a positive thing, and go out for lunch or dinner together after and enoy the time together. He might just think: " that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I actually had fun".

Good luck on having fun together.
i soooo agree with you! my ddh became very interested in quilting when i first started. i think the geometrics, the intricate blocks/quilts i gravitate to appealed to my engineer . he now shops with me, goes to quilt shows & gives input on color, design etc when i'm working on a quilty project. his personal hobby is ornamental blacksmithing ..he likes hot & dirty so i was totally surprised, and pleased, to see how he enjoyed my quilty obsession.
...and i spend more when he goes fabric shopping with me!! ..but i don't argue with him anymore. there was an incredibly beautiful print that looked like a monet painting. he insisted i buy some of it. so i said, ok, i'll get a yard. at the cutting counter as the clerk opened it up and layed it out to measure ..well ...by the time the clerk, my husband & several others at the cutting counter finished with me i came home with five yards. thankfully, because it was perfect for my now favorite quilt, and just the right yardage amount!
