I don't know why not. I'm getting ready to quilt a small wallhanging and I had one block leftover when I made it so decided to put it into a frame for the opposite wall. Its only 12 x 12. I baste along all my sides so will do the same for the smaller block. Haven't had any problems yet. Of course I use robotics for my quilting too.
