Default Super simple Quilt as you go placemat

I need to make myself some new placemats. I wanted to experiment with QAYG for them because I have so many bits and pieces of batting. So I took a scrap of batting and I cut a roughly 16" X wof from stash and cut that in half for two 16 x 20 pieces for the back. (for 2 placemats that ended up measuring 12 1/2" x 18" finished). Then I pulled out a bunch of purple scraps, FQ and yardage and cut 1" strips. From start to finish this only took about 2 1/2 hours but I had the binding already made, it was left over from another quilt. Even though this bowed a bit in the sewing process I am happy with it and will make a few more in different color schemes. I can probably block it square. This is a good use of leftover strips and would also look cute with different size strips and strips set vertical or diagonal.

If I made several sets I could gift a set as Christmas presents.
