Very clear! Actually I tried to do that as I was making it but I lost track of which direction I was sewing in. After each strip I finger pressed it and then quickly forgot which way I had just finished sewing. Starching would have helped too. I didn't take the time to starch any of the fabrics. I think using a walking foot would have also helped. The next ones I make I will do all of these things and see if the result is better for me.

Barb in Louisiana, yes the assembly technique is just like cotton therapy and the other common term for the technique is fun and done. Once your strips are cut it goes together really quickly. I think it took me longer to put the binding on then it did to stitch the placemat.
