I was thinking about using flat sheets like you find at Target for backing material I do not do many King size but you can get the flat sheets relatively cheap and the fabric is very good quality 600+ thread count.

I made the mistake of using a sheet for backing when I first started quilting. If you are going to machine quilt, it's probably ok. However, if you are hand quilting, avoid sheets for backing - they are woven too tightly to easily rock your needle in and out and obtain nice stitches.
