To answer the questions, the pattern is from Quilter's Cache in the Blocks Galore section. Sunny Lanes. I adjusted the measurements so I could use 2 1/2" squares. I don't like 2".

No, those are not HSTs. Could be done that way, but this was more of a snowball type thing.
