Thank you to each and every one of you for your thoughtful comments. I am relieved to know others agree that it just doesn't look good. I have put this project on hold until I can get to the fabric store for something else. I think either the light violet or the blue will look really nice...but will try out the red and dark purple also. I will post a picture of the "amended" look once purchased.
