Don't you just love engineered obsolescence? My refrigerator stopped cooling. We called a repairman. He said it would cost $700-$800 to fix it. At that price, I might as well go out and buy a new one!!
Your fear about leaving your non-Oliso irons down on the board is a valid one. I just posted on another thread about how I used an Oliso on a retreat for 4 days and when I got home, I found myself leaving my iron face down on the board.
Maybe you should just bite the bullet and buy a new Oliso.
