We live on I-80 west of Des Moines. It would be worth your time to go to Winterset, Iowa. It is about 20 miles south of I-80. Piece Works Quilt Shop managed by Tony Jacobsen is on the square. The building was where Fons and Porter used to have their quilt shop. Tony, was the graphics designer for their magazine for several years. A few doors down, is the Quilt Museum that Marriane Fons and her daughter Mary helped get started. Also in town is the John Wayne home & Museum and Covered Bridges all around the area as well as one in the city park. There is also a Ben FRanklin Dime Store that carries nice fabric but different than the quilt shop. A quaint little Iowa town! You would exit at the Desoto exit off of I-80 ( stay on this high way all the way to Winterset) if you decide to stop off.
