A cute top you have created! My tops are often plan as you go - it does have its drawbacks, but it also allows your creativity to flow (sometimes mine stops for a while before flowing again, but that is my hazard!) Do it how it feels good to you. I've done it both ways. A plan is definitely a good thing when there's a deadline involved (Gifts, for instance) and a deadline can put a stop to habitual indecision also - my mind almost always thinks of 10 more ways to consider once I have a plan, so I have to put a stop to 2nd guessing my plans sometimes.
