As far as I know the electronic part in the later 830 is a neelde up/down function in the pedal. There is a simple micro chip in the machine as well as the pedal, and it requires this particular pedal to work as intended. I have read there's ways to remove the electronic part and run it with a generic pedal.
The non electronic 830 is missing the needle up/dow function and doesn't use a different pedal. When you look in the manual the oil points and parts are exactly the same in every other respect.
