I have a 7700, and while I like mine, if I were shopping today, knowing it is basically a discontinued model (for a couple of reasons - the APC plate and the older AcuFeed style), I would look closer at an 8900SE, or, if you could swing it, the new 9400.
I'm not sure what an 8700 is (mentioned above) - perhaps the poster meant the 6700 (updated version of the 6600)?
