If you own/use one of the binding/piping machines you probably hate having to stick the fabric in the tip. Here is an idea I came up with and emailed to my quilting friend and thought I would share it here.
I have been binding 8 of the quilts I have quilted.. I already had the binding made for 6 of the UFO's but had two to make. Out came the binding machine for its maiden run. It was a pain getting the fabric into the binding tip. By the time I got the first one threaded I decided this was not a time saver at all!
But then a light bulb came on as the first one was running through. I stopped it when there was about 8 inches still unpressed and whip stitched the 2nd binding to the end and rolled it onto the roller. Voila.....no trying to get the fabric into that tip.
Before the last binding threaded all the way through, I got a 8 inch scrap strip and whip stitched it to the end of the binding then ran the machine until the scrap was through the tip but still had a tail. I snipped the threads to the binding and left the scrap piece in the tip. I will never have to try to get fabric into the tip again! Now it is a time saver!
Hope you find this helpful,
Marilyn
