After examining her webpage and facebook page, I would suggest that this lady has found a great way to market herself. Her blocks look to be a simple square within a square and should take no special rulers. Instructions start with a layer cake, so I'm guessing that the center block is a 5" square surrounded by 2 1/2" strips. Then she adds variations from that. But I have not taken her class and am making a judgement based on what I see in her promotions. Good luck and have fun! .... and you can always do your own thing within her limits.
