So, while I'm asking questions, this is machine pieced....how in the world do you machine piece something like that?

Is each semi-circle cut out and then pieced onto the preceding one?
So, starting at the lower left corner, you would begin with the dark blue and then the lighter blue strip and then the green/black strip, etc? And, you'd have some Y seams here and there where you would sew sections together?
Any insights?
