There are shapes that you can use for 'applique'.
But for 'pieced blocks' the blocks are drawn by drawing lines to essentially connect dots. (It's not so much drawing 'shapes' but 'lines' that then connect to make shapes). If you make a block that you like (like a star or corn-and-beans) you can save it in the library so you don't have to re-draw it everytime you want to design a quilt with it!
It does also have built in quilts for one-block 'all-over' quilt designs using shapes like tumblers, hexagons, squares, diamonds, etc. You can adjust the size of these shapes. Then the design process wouldn't be drawing, but more coloring (which is fun!).
